If you arrive early, you can relax and get ready for your safari adventure. Arusha is a busy city and an important starting point for safaris in Northern Tanzania. Accommodations: Arusha Planet Lodge Forest Hill Lodge Pazuri Inn Day 2: Tarangire National Park After breakfast, your safari guide will pick you up from your hotel. You will drive about 2.5 hours to Tarangire National Park. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which is the main water source for animals during the dry season. Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds. You may also see giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, lions, and leopards. The park is home to many bird species and giant baobab trees, some of which are believed to be over 1,000 years old. You will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park. After the game drive, you will travel to Karatu for dinner and overnight stay. The crater covers about 260 square kilometers and has grasslands, forests, lakes, and swamps. You may see wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 species of birds. The crater also offers one of the best chances to see the rare black rhino. You will have a picnic lunch on the crater floor. After the game drive, you will return to your accommodation in Karatu.
