Rafiki is designed to give you the friendliest, most intimate, luxury safari camp experience and the best wildlife safari in the Serengeti. Our prime location along the Mara River is unrivalled for seeing and photographing animals all year around, but particularly to observe the greatest wildlife show on earth; over a million wildebeest, zebra and antelopes migrating from the Serengeti into the Masai Mara (July-October).
OUR TENTS
You may not realise how rare it is to witness a migration river crossing, because the wildebeest can hesitate on the riverbank for days before taking the leap! But since Rafiki’s main wing overlooks the Mara River, while the private wing has an intimate bush setting, we see migration crossings from within camp. Entim guests are usually first on the scene, up close to all the action and other top animal sightings.

Luxury in the middle of nowhere
This lodge was very luxurious after long, wonderful, dusty days in the Central Serengeti on game watching drives. Manager could not have been more helpful when I needed to have some business papers printed, which he did twice for me at no charge. All staff were friendly and kind and fun to be around. The food was great, in a stunning stone and wood restaurant setting. Don’t miss the opportunity to talk to any of the staff about their own background in this wonderful country. A very kind lady washed our road-weary clothes by hand and dried them in fresh air before returning the following afternoon. We had one night of torrential rain with thunder and lightening, which made the escorted walk to and from dinner extra exciting! Lions roared and hyenas did what they do during the night, what a special lullaby. The bagged lunches are a cut above the usual “hot lunches” we had and ate at crowded picnic grounds. The bagged lunch gave us a lot more flexibility as to when and where to have lunch- even in the vehicle under a lion’s tree.
Best location
Rafiki Lodge is located right in the serengeti where you can hear and see animals right from your lodge. The rooms are luxurious and have everything you need. There is a bath tub with a spectacular view and an outdoor shower (aswell as an indoor) if you want a natural experience. The team are amazing, always attentive and very approachable and friendly. The food was lovely with plenty of options. Such a great stay, would highly recommend.

THE SERENGETI EXPERIENCE
Sit on your veranda and look over the Mara River at one of Africa’s greatest stretches of savanna, with the Rift Valley escarpment in the distance. Migrating wildebeest gather on these riverbanks and begin their migration into the Serengeti. You will hear the sounds of grunting gnu, hippos, hyenas and lions from your bed at night. These wild animals are very closeby, so our red-robed Maasai warriors escort you to your room after dinner and drinks around the camp fire, where you’ll find a hot water bottle warming the bed.
The Rafiki experience is not your average hotel or lodge; it’s a feeling of being part of the landscape and having profound encounters with wild animals and Maasai people in their own land. It’s a sharing of passions and significant moments in the heart of one of the most famous wildlife reserves in the world.
